  November 15th, 2008 SMART meeting

Time is sneaking up really quickly for our next meeting! The meeting will be November 15th at DigiPen from 2 to 5pm. The mini-challenge is a walking robot race - walk to the end of a field, turn around, and return to the starting spot. See (URL) for (...) (16 years ago, 6-Nov-08, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Proof of concept - Vid 2

(URL) it's RCX'ed That was slightly more difficult than I thought It isn't perfect--still needs a little tweaking, but it's a great start The monorail switch mechanism needs to be improved but the rest is pretty good So there you are Dave K (16 years ago, 6-Nov-08, to lugnet.org.ca.obb, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.space)

Re: Beating up, kicking, and verbally abusing an old dead rotted horse...

(...) If Matt or someonelse rewrite the code (open sourced or not) I would suggest to use a framework that is available to most of the OS like Qt or GTk. That way it would be really easy to port to all OS not just the most known. Wine is working (...) (16 years ago, 6-Nov-08, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.general)

Re: Beating up, kicking, and verbally abusing an old dead rotted horse...

(...) Given the reports that its using MFC, it would be easier to rewrite a new version from scratch than to port the existing one. (16 years ago, 6-Nov-08, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.general)

Re: Beating up, kicking, and verbally abusing an old dead rotted horse...

(...) For me, the great think about Track Designer is that it runs just fine under the Wine Windows emulator. I've used it that way under my X86-64 Linux machine for several layouts, including working on NALUG layouts for train shows. I've never (...)   Re: LEGO Club $5 off code for S@H

(...) Thanks, Gail. You perhaps don't get a lot of followups to your posts, but I distribute items like this and your TRU sale notices to our (NALUG) email list, and you can be sure that you are often causing money to be spent! :-) Keep it up - your (...) (...) (16 years ago, 5-Nov-08, to lugnet.loc.se)

Re: Beating up, kicking, and verbally abusing an old dead rotted horse...

(...) Open the source code! My guess is that's the best thing which can be done. Set up a open source project, and even if nobody contributes immediately, maybe a day... and of course you can still develop it (and the source code will never be lost (...)   Re: Beating up, kicking, and verbally abusing an old dead rotted horse...

(...) Well, back when I was searching high and low for it, we wanted to intigrate the source in with visual basic to control our switching and such on the layout. Its great that you've found this gem even if it was 5 years later. I still have a (...) (16 years ago, 5-Nov-08, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.general)

Re: Beating up, kicking, and verbally abusing an old dead rotted horse...

(...) Now I'm debating whether I should do some development on it myself or let someone else do it or open it up for collaborative development. I have been able to compile it but only with an older version of Visual C++ (version 4.0). Plus I have (...) (16 years ago, 5-Nov-08, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.general)

Re: Long time... sets for sale

(...) Forgot to mention, that it includes a 10020 (built once, but that once), and a 4555 which has been slightly used. WBR Sonnich (16 years ago, 5-Nov-08, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

  Long time... sets for sale

Hi I have had kind of a dark age for some time, and I want to sell some stuff (URL) I have a bunch of catalogs 1971, 1979-200x in different languages and other parts... if interested, then write me an offer. WBR Sonnich (16 years ago, 5-Nov-08, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

Re: Beating up, kicking, and verbally abusing an old dead rotted horse...

(...) That is great news, Track Designer is very useful, I use it all the time when I do a LEGO train show as I have a different layout for each show. It still works very well but it would be nice to see a few enhancements. David (16 years ago, 5-Nov-08, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.general)

LEGO Club $5 off code for S@H

The Nov-Dec LEGO Club magazine has a code (SPC118E) to get $5 off your S@H order of $35 or more (before taxes etc). One discount per order. Good in Canada until Dec 31, 2008. Nice news is that you still get free shipping on orders over $99 with this (...) (16 years ago, 5-Nov-08, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: New MOC: PT5 Albescent Cormorant

I really like it. The five engine/wing is blended nicely into the design. I also like the fact that the wings aren't all the same, which gives a bit of assymetry to the symmetric design. :) (16 years ago, 5-Nov-08, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: PT5 Albescent Cormorant

I'm no space fan, but you've captured a lot of what I associate with the genre in one nice slick MOC. Good work! I would love to see a slightly longer version, but the scale of the various wing components and the angles of their alignment is (...) (16 years ago, 5-Nov-08, to lugnet.space, FTX)
