Are you sure?  I just looked through my 1983 LEGO train brochure and it
shows the7725 with track but the 7755 without.

Sorry, maybe a wrong use of "train set": I meant all sets , which contained
trains (= engine + waggons) came with track (only exception 7725 and later
3225).
Of course trains sets which contained just an engine or a waggon came always(?)
without track.

No 12 V set came ever with a transformer/speed regulator.
