| | The inevitable leap into 10-Wide Trains... Daniel Siskind
|
| | Having been building at to a scale of 1 stud (1 brick width) = 1 foot for (approx 1:35 scale) the better part of the last 2 decades, I decided it was past time to upgrade my trains to the same scale. With several years experience building 8-wides (...) (18 years ago, 19-Oct-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX) !

| | | | (...) Hey, Dano! Long time. Ah, 10 wide. Reminds me of the very first loco I started to build with GMLTC bricks (never completed). It was a 10 wide BN as well. Well, yours looks terrific-- just keep those smallish wheels shielded. Now, another (...) (18 years ago, 19-Oct-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

| | | | (...) Excellent Daniel! Nice to find a kindred spirit as I'm also an 8mm scale train builder (since 1996). (URL) I started from the other end - trains first, then scenery. I aim for the scale given by a LEGO track gauge of 37.8mm and real gauge of (...) (18 years ago, 21-Oct-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

| | | | Sounds like we have a lot of building experiences in common. Most of the obstacles to large scale train modelling are familiar to me, since I've been working on GMLTC's 8-wide layout for the past five years or so. We found that the weakness of (...) | | | | (...) The buildings are a Blacksmith's forge kit and another one built as a mirror image! This is the old trick of using a decent kit to fill in a gap. I did the same with wagons - notice the 6 Octan tankers in the middle, just in front of the (...) (18 years ago, 25-Oct-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(why does this happen? - I must need more sleep to help my memory!) :-) Dan, it's particularly good that your kit fits with the larger scale, and you managed to get it through the design and (...)
