Wow!
These gaps are wide enough to push coins of any size through!
Jan Beyer of LEGO told at 1000steine, that all trains will look like this and he
gave a (lame?) explanation, that there are limitations in designing the
single-piece-mould, that forced them to do a shape with huge gaps like this.
They could not do it better and this is not a bug but a feature.
I cannot believe this, but at least this is, what Jan got to hear and forwarded
to us.
Only the best is good enogh! *)

I have a hard time believing that the size of the part is to blame. I give you
three examples of large parts that have no gaps. These all come in the new
Passenger Plane 7893.

Clearly LEGO® has no problem with making large pieces fit together. I think
someone messed up big time when they made the molds for this new train. We all
know the molds cost of a lot of money so there is no turning back now. Its okay,
as this is more of a parts train anyways. Most will want the trans Black roofs.
The freight set is far better for design and playability. especially once you
convert it to 9V. :-P

Perhaps they were trying to design the worlds first remote control piggy bank.
