Hi all,

I'm curious what you part modders think about modifying the new plastic train
track to allow it to conduct electricity. My thought was that you could use
metallic conducting tape on top of the plastic tracks and make yourself a good
old-fashioned metal rail but I have no experience whatsoever in this area so
thought I'd ask those who do.

So, essentially my question is this: Do you think the plastic tracks could be
converted to 9V conducting tracks with conducting tape?

Any further comments or suggestions are, of course, welcome./

Thanks,

Tim

Well theoretically using conducting tape would work but reliability would be a
huge issue. My guess would be that the tape would likely rub through within a
hour or two. The other method of adding metal to the plastic is a little more
realistic but why bother when metal-railed track already exists.  If the Lego
company decides to mold half and quarter sections of track I’ll consider making
the tools to put metal on them but until then it's a waist of time to even think
about this sort of mod.
