| | | | | Well, we did it!!!!
70+ AFOLs from 13 clubs and the CUT team build a 50-70 foot Lego display at the
National Train Show in Cincinnati. It took approx. 750 (wo)man-hours to build.
It will be impossible to describe in words how much fun it was, but we are sure
some of you will try! Most of the participants have meanwhile returned home, but
some are still underway! Participant clubs came from as far away as Canada and
Florida!
There are already pictures to be found on Brickshelf, but this is likely merely
the tip of the iceberg. Feel free to follow up this posts with your reports,
links to pictures, etc.
Thanks all who participated and supported this event, we had a blast.

A big thanks, Im sure on everyones part, to the people who help made this
possible! That was easily the most fun Ive ever had at a show, and an
experience I wont forget. As a member of the community whos never been to
Brickfest, it was also great fun to meet all the people I see or hear about
online.
My gallery of pics made it throught the upload process and is here:
http://www.maj.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=93542
And heres a sample pic, that hopefully conveys the mind blowing size of this
layout:
I took 21 layout vids, and 26 more miscellany vids (786 Megs total), which Im
figuring out where to put, as I dont have a personal site, and I feel sorta
guilty using the extension trick on Maj. At least so the different clubs can
have their vids, Ill put them up at least for a while on Maj. Ill start work
on the composited video as soon as I can.

Well according to the BS main page, Multimedia files are now available between
8pm and 10am EDT, so BS may be the place to put them. Seems to work on my WMV
files...

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Ill see about converting them to wmv, he deleted my folder with the movs in it.
My idea of setting up an ftp server is dead, as I cant get Filezilla to even
create a listen socket, whatever that is.

Hello all,
Well I finally caught up on my sleep and resized my pictures to save space on
the one and only Brickshelf.
During the last 20 minutes of the show I figured out a way to take aerial
pictures of the displays. Most came out OK, some slightly blurry, I removed the
ones that were real blurry. It was a little difficult to hold a camera 10ft
above the displays on an extended tripod. At least I did not kill any MOCs. :)
For those who wanted some copies email me with the DSCN number and I can email
the originals 500+K each
Just the Aerial views
Main NMRA folder
All in all it was worth every bit of work to complete. It was great to finally
meet so many other AFOLs in person.
Until next time
.

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Great photos, I particularly like the corner section of the layout with the
wooden trestle bridge
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/talltim/LugnetTrainsSidebar/nmra_07_05.jpg
Any details available on how this bridge was constructed?

This is my creation. Now that MOCPages is back up, Im working on putting
together an expose of all the MOCs that I did for the NMRA show including the
trestle bridge and roundhouse as well as my 8-wide train creations. Stay tuned!
