A few more British non-steam engines that use spoked wheels:
GT3 (1961), a 2700hp gas turbine engine designed to look like a 4-6-0 steam
engine.

10100 (1950), the Fell locomotive, 4-8-4/2D2, later 4-4-4-4. This loco had 4
engines, 2 in each bonnet section. The engines kicked in at increasing speeds.
Id like to make one of these with a train motor each end and 4 sets of BBB
wheels in the middle.
18000 (1950), a 2500hp A1A-A1A gas turbine engine.
I suppose the gas turbines are closer to diesel than to steam or electric, since
theyre in a diesels book!
BTW Apart from the Acela tilting train, are there many types of gas turbine
locos in North America? I have books of diesels and steam engines but Id like
to find out more about modern traction stateside (of all types, preferably with
drawings!).
