I just noticed this on Brickshelf, looks like Bob has gat a great concept
here for train nose! And a sustainable! A few soccer buses and a soccer
field set and you got the makings for several of these engines!

Way to go Bob

Steve,

Glad that you like it.  It started with those soccer field white
"windshields".  I stacked a couple up and thought, "wow - this could make a
cool train front."  The nose needs some work - compound curves with LEGO
bricks take a lot of work.  This version does have a working headlight and
flashing warning lights in the nose.

It is no particular proto-type - just a high speed train.  Many of the
details where inspired by (borrowed/stolen from) James Mathis' incredible
passenger trains (http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=1636).

I am working on the rest of the train set and will post more pictures when
it is done.

Working lights!  Awesome.  I love it when one can incorporate the lights
into trains  :-)

"Compound curves":  Oh, yeah, but it's worth it when you feel like you've
got it right.

Simply inspired is your take from the Soccer sets with the 2x6x2 trans light
blue and solid white slopes.

Ah, "no particulr proto-type"...I think your dangerously ;-) close to the
German DB ICE series with the white with red-stripe color scheme :-)

It's great to see so many ideas for "high-speed" train sets coming along nicely.

Have you noticed the design stylings of Markus' new ICE?
http://www.markusstrick.de/ticketcenter/index.htm
There's good inspiration there for the sleek nose and close-couplings.

I am working on the rest of the train set and will post more pictures when
it is done.

I'm looking forward to seeing it!

That's very neat.  I remember doing this as a kid with 2x4x3 windscreens,
when I couldn't afford any of the new space sets to get a 4x6x3 canopy!
