Here is another 100% mechanical "obstacle-avoiding rover".  Like my previous
attempt at:

it has only one motor and no electronics.  This one is based on a simpler
principle.  The left and right sides operate independently - on each side the
wheel changes direction whenever the bumper on that side is pushed.  When it
runs into a wall at an angle, it first rotates until the second bumper hits the
wall, and then reverses away.  The net result is a "reflection" off the wall
(this is much easier to understand from the video!).
