I ended up with this 'red container' with a flip top from a collector we
bought out, but have been unable to identify it's kit number or where it
would have originally come from.  Inside the red flip top case is a series
of instructions for various Technic creations.  I have been flipping through
cards looking for years/copyright/part numbers, nother popped out.

Anyone seen something similar.  It's about 1 foot, by 8-9 inchs, by around
3-4 inchs thick. The top hinges open kinda like a crayon box from years back.

THANKS! MaS

Michael,
From your brief description, it sounds like a dacta activity pack. You could
narrow down the search for us by answering a few questions:
1) Is the box cardboard or plastic? Which logo is on the box (if any)?
2) Is the set 4.5V, 12V or 9V? (you can tell by the motors if they are pictured)
3) What languages appear on the cards? What country did you purchase them, or
the original collector reside in?

A dacta activity pack is a series (usually numbered) of technic instructions.
Look for a simple numbering system. They should 'build' on one another to make a
series of increasingly complex challenges.
Here's a collection of Dacta set pictures:

Your cards sound similar to this set:

If you have only single cards, then you have a students pack. If there are
mutliple copies of each card, then you have a teachers/classroom pack.

If that doesn't sound close, then answering the above questions will narrow down
the search.

Hope that helps,
Clark

OK, here are the details on this kit I have. I think it's a 1035 Technic I teacher pack, complete and in superb condition. Has BIG red flip top case for everything to go into. 4 sets of cards in blue (labeled 1031), red, yellow and green. Techers (...) (20 years ago, 17-May-04, to lugnet.technic)
