Problems with 8009: R2-D2

I was wondering if anyone else had these same problems. First, instead of
the right angle piece numbered 6 used in the feet, I got similar pieces
numbered 5. Also, the lever on the side of the droid does nothing. I'm
pretty sure it should knock the middle foot down, put mine passes by it with
plenty of room to spare.
I know how to fix the first problem, but the second one kind of baffles me.
Any help would be appreciated.

| (...) The lever on the side is not a lever-- it's a socket probe or tool, like in the first movie. The lever in the back pops this out. The leg is opened by pushing the horizontal bar in the front. I'm not all that keen on the look of this set (I (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jan-02, to lugnet.starwars)
