MMMMMMMMM....dark...red...greeblies....MMMMMMMMM..
I like. Somebody got the Rebel Blockade Runner for the holidays!
1. Nice smooth top - very slick.
2. Very shweet band of greebles near the engine! VERY Space 1999 IMO!
Everything just works so well. The thing that I like is how the use of the
band and smooth top actually takes your attention away from the blox-like
front - the latter of which is accented by the "enclosed" or "shrouded" feel
in the manner that the greey sides seem to envelop around the cockpit windows.
Very nice.
3. Once again, showing off your prowess of non-symetrical design. :)
4. LOVE the magnetic coupling system. When you set the ship down on top of
the habitat, does the habitat immediately jump up and lock into place, or do
you have to lift the habitat up by hand?
5. I simply must get my hand on a blockade runner. What a killer set of
parts! Dark red half cylnders?! ooooohoohOOHOhooohoOHOHOOoooo
sigh. And I just went and bought my first train. Oh well.
KOOLNESS!

I hate to spoil the fun but thats actually all brown. :-( I'm sorry that
some of it came out looking dark red. Its funny because Mark Rideout
thought it was sand red in another picture, taken with someone elses camera.
Weirdness.

Courtesy of the Sopwith Camel. Actually Brickbay because I only have those
pieces from the Sopwith.

Thanks! Thats the very first part of the ship I did. I just made that
recessed area with some bricks framing it and set it on my bookshelf for a
week before the idea for the ship came to me. I'm really glad you
appreciate the ships design. You've noticed some features that I was really
happy about.

Thanks again. :-)

I have to raise it, but not by much. I just raise it up a bit and then it
snaps into place. Very strong bond too. Magnets rock.

I must get my hands on one too. ;-) The brown half cylinders came from:

I was fortunate to find a few this fall at Walmart for $20.

Beautifully ugly, Jon!
I love how you work with brown and gray. Lots of functionality to this MOC.
I think the Lobot head has a perfect placid look on his face for being a
monk. :^)

Thanks very much indeed! I couldn't reveive a better complement, considering
the industrial look I'm going for with some of these ships.
Lobot rocks! He's so mellow, I knew he would be perfect. :-)

Yes, we can make him tall!
Or we can make him not so tall!
I hope that the monk has enough food...
Nice ship indeed, Jon.

He'll have a happy face, happy smile, happy point of view!
If you build me a snowman, then I'll build one for you!

I'm sure he'll be ok. His Hydroponics system is carefully controlled and
produces fast growing, highly nutritious gengineered food. Yummy.

Excellent details/"greebles", nice colours, and great form. The interior of the
habitat is full of terrific stuff. Your use of the AT-ST hatch round tile on
the toilet is beautiful! ;-D
Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks Mladen! :-)
I didn't have much space to work with in the habitat but I'd be damned if
the monk wasn't gonna have a toilet. :-)
I should get another AT ST one of these days. Lots of useful parts in that
set.

It's the best flying box I've seen! Asymmetry = good! I love the habitat too.
Great use of different angles and shapes in a primarily blockish form. The
interior details and all your hatches and doors are excellent too. Maybe I
should try to use my brown and gray parts too sometime! :)

Heh. Not yet actually.. You just reminded me of another MOC I had ideas
for. I actually want to make a ship that is just that. A box. It would be
a little cargo ship that would "unfold" when it landed-- giving easy access
to the cargo.

Thanks! I was trying for lots of different angles and shapes on the ship
and habitat. I wanted everything to balance out. Like how the ship is
asymmetrical along the length but its symetrical (more or less) front to
back.
Brown and gray = Gooood.

I kind of like it better thinking of it as a giant microfig freighter or
something. It has intrigued me at any rate. Lots of cool details. I really
like the unorthodox use of the technic piston housing.

| holy freakin wow!
first, your new site design is SOOOO sweet
now on to the MOC...
thx for taking such GREAT pics.
this pic really shows something important,
the use of 2 flat surfaces w/ greeblies in the gap.
you find this in lots of anime design and in Syd Mead's
and Doug Chiang's design as well.
http://www.oklahoma.net/~jpalmer/lego/bison5.html
where'd u get the dark red cylinders in this pic:
http://www.oklahoma.net/~jpalmer/lego/bison9.html
wonderul greeblies on the lid of the monks hut:
(and so nicely bordered by the slopes... really makes
them stand out)
http://www.oklahoma.net/~jpalmer/lego/bison11.html
i love the 'shallow crevice' diorama,
but where's the interior pics of the Bison?
or a pic w/out the cargo module attached...
:-)
more pics, man
and last,
i'm really glad to see that the door Todd built
in my non-violent contest is getting so much mileage...

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Ooooh that's cool. The greebly seem is uber-neato. And so is the roof of the
little pod thingy. You are very good at this grey/dark grey/brown color
scheme. And the pics are durn sweet too.
Very good work.

mmmmm-- nice!
Wow, is that ever a piece of great, and thoughtful design (much like the
site, IMO)-- Just like Syd Mead- it's got a nice, cramped, utilitarian look,
beautiful colours, and a great little story! Amazing! Fabulous! You should
be very, very happy with it! It makes me happy just looking at it!

Jon,
Does your MOC do double-sided copies? What kind of toner does it use?
I'm just kidding. I'm very impressed by your creation! I love the section
that comes out and swings open into three parts.
This looks like you have spent a lot of time on it, and it shows. Some
pictures show layers like the layers of an onion; it has real depth and
character everywhere you look.
Another thing I like is that is is very polished- and finished-looking,
giving it a refined quality.
Of everything I saw on your site, this is my favorite. Thanks for sharing
it (by the way, your site design is pretty cool, too).
Paul
