You might want to consider using NXC and the standard NXT firmware.

Thanks for the recommendation John, I think we met in '99 at Mindfest at MIT,
but I'm sure you met way too many to remember.

I'm a long-time user of NQC and I evaluated NXC right after I got the NXT, along
with RobotC.  I've been focusing on RobotC because I quickly found sample code
for the NRLink, quite important for me since I have multiple RCX and Scout
units.  I am looking forward to getting multiple bricks working together.  The
NXT has much greater sensor potential over of prior bricks.

Seeing this code is swinging me back to familiar territory, although right now I
would like to overcome the hurdle of the RobotC/NRLink communication.  No one
has published reliable RCX->NXT communication code and there are many requests
for it.  Perhaps this code will solve the problems for me, I haven't studied it
in detail yet.

Thanks again,
-Wes

(...) You might want to consider using NXC and the standard NXT firmware. Here's some code John Barnes wrote in NXC for reading sensor values via the NRLink: int count; int sensorval; int i; int temp; byte toggle=0; byte csum; byte RCXcmnd[]; /*[0] (...)
