All,

I'm working on a directional transmission (running the motor one way does
one thing, running it the other way does something else), but with a
single output shaft. The idea is that when I run the motor forward, it
will give me very slow rotation forward, but when I run it backward, I
get fast rotation backward.

The other thing I need is fast reversal response, so I'm using a "gear on
a swing arm" rather than a "sliding worm gear" approach. Those are the
only two ways I know of to do directional  transmissions, are there
others?

I have a working model, but I'm not terribly happy with it yet. I'll keep
refining, but if anyone knows of any existing designs like this, I'd
appreciate any pointers.

Dave Johnson
