Thats VERY cool Philo! Have you investigated speeding it up by unlinking the 2
sorter levels, ie move the top level for the next ball while the bottom level is
still positioned for the current ball? May need a holding pen between level 1 &
2 though, which would likely push you over the 1 set limit.

I initially thought I would have to do that, but actually in this design the
speed limitation comes from the ball splitter mechanism (in the NXC version it
runs full speed without stopping). I have not tried with alkaline batteries
(here I use LEGO Li-ion battery), their higher voltage would make the sorter a
tad faster.
The other tricky timing is between color detection and first level switch. My
first program waited for the end of ball bassing before switching - it was too
long and flip occured while ball was in the switch, resulting in an ejection...
