SET DESCRIPTION
This is one of the new bulk offerings.
The good news: Its price per piece is almost as good as that of the
now-defunct 3033 tub (500 pieces for $10 compared to 1200 for $20).
Also, there are more colors represented (lots of brown and some tan
elements).
The bad news: The selection of pieces is somewhat poor. The majority
of the bricks are 2x2 and 1x2. There are only a few 2x4 of each
color, and not nearly enough 1xN bricks for any value of N. Also
there are a few printed pieces with silly eyeballs and mouths. But
unlike most of the Creator line, there are relatively few useless
pieces.
This is a great source of brown and tan bricks, but I wish they had
included more 1x3, 2x4, 1x4, 1x6, and 1x8 bricks.
SPECIAL ELEMENTS
The special elements in this tub are the basic bricks. The printed
bricks made just for this set are pretty unexciting: a couple of
eyeball 1x1's and mouth-printed yellow 1x4/2x4 bricks.
IMPRESSION
After the 3033, this is disappointing. But if the 3033 had never been
released, this would be a great set. I'm looking forward to seeing
the other new bulk Creator sets which are due to be available soon.
SET RATING
Model Rating
No model instructions included. Idea book included several ideas,
mostly primitive animal models. Great for kids, but not for me.
Playability Rating
I enjoy fiddling with basic bricks and making sculpture, so I would
have to give this one a high rating for that, but as there is no
official model, the playability rating is somewhat inappropriate.
LIKES/DISLIKES
Likes:
-Bulk bricks.
-Brown and tan bricks included.
Dislikes:
-Should have more larger bricks.
-The assortment of bricks in various colors seems rather odd.
ERRORS
None noticed.
EXTRA ELEMENTS
None.
CONCLUSION
In the absense of the 3033 tub, this is the best source of new bulk
basic bricks currently available.
