(includes shots of assembled model, parts, etc.)
This model is not very impressive.
The ppp (price per piece) is excellent, about 7¢ USD! But nearly all of the
parts are all small. The set has relatively few highly specialized parts.
There are 4 styling panels, two clunky feet, and a rubber-tipped projectile
shooter.
He does NOT have the new click joints found in 8012 Super Battle Droid.
The mechanical feature of the model is the automatic firing of the
spring-loaded projectile (the liftarm with a rubber end). The firing is
activated by bending the model at the waist, or pulling on a lever in the back.
He's much like 8010 Darth Vader in function. He has stiff legs and one-piece
arms that just rotate at the shoulders.
Jango's wrists are ball-n-socket joints. His ankles have the potential to be
ball-n-socket joints, but have a redundant solid connection making them
inarticulate. You might be able to modify the model to use the ankle ball
joint provided, but it may prove not stiff enough to hold him up. I suspect
that's why Lego made the joint stiff in the first place.
The colors used are fitting given how Jango really looks. Most of the parts
are blue, purple, and gray.
Construction is easy. The parts come seperated in three bags: the head,
torso, legs, and arms. The instruction book is large, but the steps are very
simple, usually adding only 3 to 4 pieces per step. Keep in mind this set is
for ages +9.
Jango has very few specialized pieces. He has 27 1x2 liftarms, which are
excellent new pieces, IMO. The bulk of the parts are good "accessory pieces"
(small pieces that are always needed in large quantities, e.g. small
liftarms, small axles, axle connectors in different angles, etc.), but some
of them are in purple.
Fett has an average appearance, and he's a little sparse. The legs could use
some beefing up as well as the arms. He's much like 8010 Darth Vader but
with lighter colors and without a cape.
I think if you're going to buy it for parts, it's a good choice, given the
ppp (if you like purple). Otherwise, 8010 Darth Vader would be a better
choice as most of his parts are black. Although the ppp is very low, Jango
doesn't have any large studless beams or bent beams; most of the parts are
small.
Playability is low, and appearance is fair. He'd probably look good up on a
shelf next to his counterparts (8009, 8010, 8012).
