I just built this, and although you non-Technic AFOLs will say it doesn't
really look special, the mechanism for changing between 2 & 3 "feet" has
restored my faith in the LEGO Technic designers. It's another of those oh,
so simple but pretty much perfect linkages, like the landing gear in the
8425 Black Hawk.

Lots of white Technic parts, too, including (but not limited to) 14t bevel
gears, #2, #4 & #6 axle, the curvy linkarm thingies (2 kinds), and lots of
the new 2 long liftarm things.

Also, 2 light grey #8 axles, and a small selection of dark blue & trans dark
blue parts.

But the mechanical design is what really stands out for me. I'd recommend
this set even at full retail! Well done, LEGO!

(...) 2L long liftarm? That could be useful. Can anyone take a picture so we can see what it looks like? Steve (who thinks that R2D2 looks weird with the one eye and no head) (23 years ago, 10-Feb-02, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic)

(...) Perhaps one must be a gear head to like this model? I took one look at the box and decided it was so ugly I wasn't going to buy it. Yuck. (23 years ago, 10-Feb-02, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic)

(...) And did anyone notice the intentional (yeah, right) mistake?? Of course, they're 12t bevel gears. ROSCO (23 years ago, 11-Feb-02, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic)
