General Stuff:
#5936 Spider's Secret
Pieces: 126
Minifigs: 2 + 1 skeleton
Cost: $12.99 MSRP, snagged by me for $10.39 at Kohl's

Hmm... My first set in seven months, I have mixed feelings about this one.
I'll start off with my overall impressions. The set seems to come with more
minifig accessories than anything. The temple that the set comes with seems
just like an afterthought. Everything else is directly related to the figs,
Miss Read and Senor Palomar. The car seems to be an afterthought as well. It
is very poorly constructed compared to other Adventurers cars. Not only does
it lack headlights, it is about four different colors and just looks bad. The
temple is somewhat better. It has a few nice pieces, namingly slopes, and some
bad ones like the printed statue 2x1x5 columns. Ick. The booby trap that is
standard to all Adventurer sets is a very conspicuous brown Castle battle axe.
It leans at about a 45º angle and falls about 2 bricks in height before
hitting the ground... The rest is just a bunch of bricks. There are very
little plates in this set which is disappointing. There is a plentiful amount
of minifig accessories, though, as I already said. These include: 1 pistol, 1
rifle, 1 set of binouculars, 2 knives, 1 magnifying lens, 1 video camera, 1
stick of dynomite, 1 backpack, 1 photograph, and 1 map. There are also animals
a plenty: 2 spiders, 1 scorpion, and 1 snake. There are also a bunch of
odd/new/unusual pieces: 2x1x5 printed columns, 1 car SPUD, 1 spider web, 1 1x2
Technic beam with TWO holes (yee-haw!), 1 2x2 round topped brick, and a bunch
of decorated tiles as well as tons and tons of 2x2x3 and 45º slopes in varying
colors. A great set for parts, but a bad model
Pros: Nice pieces and minifigs for GREAT alternates
Cons: The car, the temple.
Overall: 3/5

This was my first set after a "dark age" of over a year. I like it. I got many parts I hadn't seen before, like a snake, two spiders, video camera, spider web, sun disc, both vegetation pieces- lots of good stuff. I don't really hate the car, or the (...)
