#6564
Recycle Truck
34 pcs.
CAN: $10.25
USA: $7.25

I received this set for Christmas 1999 wrapped with the 6422 Telephone Repair.
I find the Recycle Truck to be a useful addition to my Town vehicle fleet. The
stuff I liked was the cool garbage can element (although they don't make any
sense, recyclables go in the blue box!), the recycle logo on the side (not a
decal), and the good playability.  Unfortunately, this set has serious
problems.  The most noticable is the extreme juniorization.  This set contains
only 34 pieces, when it could have easily be done in about 90 (and have been
kept at the $10 level).  A consequence of the juniorization, I have yet to
build a decent alternate for it.  The biggest flaw in the design, in my
opinion, is that there is no back door and the garbage cans fall out as soon as
you drive away.  Unfortunately, I do not believe I have a blue plate with
hinges.  It stays unaltered for now.  And also, where does this guy take the
stuff he collects?  I guess its up to me to build him a recycling plant. I
could go on and on about the lack of side doors, the preprinted lights, etc,
but I actually do like this vehicle.  Yes, I like it.  I enjoy placing it in my
Lego dispays, parked outside the Rock Raiders HQ or Night Lord's Castle as the
minifig picks up their garbage.  I once made up a story that the driver, Stan,
mistook the legendary Sun Disk for scrap metal while at the Spider's Secret,
and was chased by bugs and pterodactlys until Gail Storm told him that it was
valuable and to put it back.  I'd say its compatable with just about anything,
unless you're attempting an authentic historical diorama.  The good balancing
out the bad, I'll say this is a decent set that gets about a C+.

(...) You could "borrow" ideas from it's predecessor's (<set:6668>) instructions. Alan (24 years ago, 2-Jul-00, to lugnet.reviews)
