SciBrick is looking for you!

Are you into building Sci-Fi Genre models and themes? Are you in a Local Lego User Group near you? Would you like to be?

Are you familiar with going to Comic Book and Science Fiction Conventions? Would you like to help develope a Lego Fan presence at events like these? Are you into showing your creations to the public or do you have experience at showing and exhibiting at your Local Lego User Group?

The idea of SciBrick is to embrace the fun of showing your models to the world around you. SciBrick works two ways. From the bottom up and the top down.

If SciBrick is contacted by a venue, mall, store, convention more!.... SciBrick’s founding member commitee determines where the people and resources are then recruits it’s fellow builders.

Likewise if you find an opportunity to do a public show and you would like to use the SciBrick Logo to represent your Sci Fi Genre building LEGO models, you can submit a picture refference here to LUGNET for Official Sanction so you can display the SciBrick Logo at your event.

To be honest we havn’t exactly ironed out what that really means yet, however the basic criteria would are/would be:

1. SciBrick is composed of Adult Fans of Lego. a. If an existing public event is shedualed, Junior Contributions are welcome if the venue is appropriate.

2. SciBrick honors all creativity. a. A picture reference is required simply to check if the model(s) in question are not outrageous and of bad taste or are harmful in an insensitive way. SciBrick is about the positive nature of the Lego Hobby. Overt violence is frowned upon, But that might just be my own opinion.

3. Display your Sci Fi models with the SciBrick Logo (we) the SciBrick web masters cross promote with our web site and help to give your event web presence and build history.

Another avenue SciBrick can pursue, when apropriate, is help from our friends at LEGO. The Lego Company is happy to see the LEGO Fans show their creations to the public. Since the idea is a broad one, SciBrick is currently working with the the LEGO company to see what kind of relationship can take place.

The first step is to work within your own Local Lego User Group and here on LUGNET to build Sci Fi MOCs and find out who is interested in showing their creations.

Then if your Local Lego User Group; LUG, has or requests a LEGO Event Kit, use the kit’s Information Package and Idea Starter Booklets to help you learn how to go out in public and find the fun places to show your creations.

The rest is up to you and SciBrick is here to help.

If SciBrick gets a call looking for Sci Fi creations to be put on Display, SciBrick will call you.

If you get a call for, or find, a place or recieve a request for a Sci Fi oriented display call us and SciBrick will try to help.

As SciBrick grows, the ideas and structures needed to give SciBrick a strong foundation will grow in time.

Until then, SciBrick wishes our friends in the Castle, Robotics, Train, and Sculpture arena the best of luck.

Eric Sophie

SciBrick August 2003

(btw, Space Fans and Mecha Builders form SciBrick. We have come together under the overall Sci Fi umbrella.)

So anyone have a place to show near you?

Yowza! I keep getting more and more excited about the possibilities. Do you want to cross-post to adjacent/constituent groups, Eric? I will be poised for Western MA events, with the ability to travel and contribute to Boston and NYC area events. At (...) (21 years ago, 23-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.scibrick, FTX)

Hi all. I'm glad to see more and more info come out on Scibrick. My dream is that it will help promote no-names and lurkers like me not just perpetuate already established people. I know there are other spacers out there in my area. Hopefully this (...) (21 years ago, 27-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.scibrick, FTX)
