...and rolls over your neighbour's dog? It fits on your back, it makes a
great snack...
Since Chris asked about how much traffic we received after CityTV, on
average, we serve 5000-9000 requests a day off of Peach. On Peach is the
rtlToronto page, and the personal webpages of three MIE grad students in our
lab. It is a Sun SPARCserver20 running Solaris8/Apache with two Seagate
Barracuda UWSCSI disks.
Hits to Peachy nearly doubled this week on Monday after the CityTV
BreakfastTV segment:
Mon Tues Wed
14242, 8747, 9819 (this week-Monday was the TV show)
6814, 6607, 7218 (last week)
7464, 6397, 8924 (two weeks ago)
In comparison, when the Toronto Star article ran, there was no marked
increase in hits to our website, probably because the address rtltoronto.org
wasn't listed in the article, unlike on BreakfastTV, where our address was
scrolled across onscreen with a Chyron crawl and also on their website.
Some more interesting items mined from the peach.mie server logs:
-2.55GB a week of data.
-Largest network accesses from Sympatico, Rogers and U of T's own backbone
-Top requests of words from search engines:
1744: lego
423: sony
354: toronto
307: train
285: of
273: picture
253: amiga
248: slv
(This confirms Chris and I suggesting to people to type in "lego and
toronto" in a search engine before we got rtlToronto.org)
-Ratio of Windows to Amiga users visiting peach.mie: 293566:67. Or, about
0.02% are still using my favourite computer.
-Hits peak at noon and 10PM.
