I just got the rope for the Tug of War game that we have now booked for
July 22, 2006 at the oakwood library.
The Rope is from Canadian Tire: Cost $3.79 before tax, and is SKU #
61-8465-0
It is a pre packaged bag of NYLON rope, 1/8" x 48" (3mm x 14.4m)
Manufactured by our god friends at Bridgeline Ropes, in Deseronto Ontario(1)
This Quality rope product cannot be found on the Canadian tire web page,
and for that I can only blame poor web design. This is a link to a
similar style product, but not the OFFICIAL ROPE for this game:
http://www.canadiantire.ca/assortments/product_detail2.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524443282003&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=282574489831260&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474396670271&bmUID=1149015856369&showback=no
As well, please be aware that the tensile strength is listed as
450LBS./204KGs.
and has a safe working load of 45LBS./20KGs
Our Friends at Bridgeline would also like to let you know that this rope
has "excellent rot, mildew and abrasion resistance as well as oil and gas
resistance. Lastly they claim it also absorbs shock."
Calum would also want me to point out that the FINE PRINT on this
product states....
"Rope Failure can cause serious injury or death. fiber rope will fail if
worn, damaged, abused, overloaded or not properly maintained. Do not
exceed safe working load."
