You mean by counting ALL the blocks of your home colo[u]r? It seems like only
counting up to the wrong color would offer a big penalty for non-sorting robots.
If two non-sorting robots compete, the winner will be the lucky one, who is last
to grab the "wrong" blocks.
Another idea is to use the above scoring (ignoring the colors), then add a bonus
of +1 point per block for the right color.
That will make the scores better indicate which robots can actually stack blocks
(a very hard task, by itself)

This doesn't offer any scoring for a robot that ONLY sorts blocks, and returns
them home.
From what I've seen in the past, it seems like the thing to do is offer +1 point
for each block of the correct color in you home square, and -1 for each wrong
block.
Otherwise, if the wrong block score is < the correct block score, a strategy
would be to collect ALL blocks. If the wrong block score is > the correct
score, a strategy is to PUSH all blocks to the opponent's home.
So, with this, if you build Calum's 8 block tower in you home square, you would
get:
1) 8 block tower = 34 points
2) 7 sorted blocks in tower = 7 points
3) 7 sorted blocks at home, 1 wrong = 6 points
Total = 47 points
Of course, if you weren't sorting, you would more likely end up with 1/2 blocks
the wrong color: 34 (tower) + 4 (correct color) + 0 (home bonus) = 38
Which means, if you're not sorting blocks, it doesn't matter where you build the
tower, the "home bonus" should average about 0.
If you sorted the whole tower: 34 + 8 + 8 = 50
If you went out randomly building 6 block towers (no sorting)
13 (6 block tower) + 3 (right color in tower) + 0 = 16
If you only sorted blocks and returned them home, you could get up to 20 points
(max # blocks?)
If you stacked all the sorted blocks 2 blocks high (10 stacks) you could get
(2+2+2)*10=80 points
If you stacked all the sorted blocks in 1 stack at home, you'd get 10946 (20
blocks) + 20 + 20 = 10986
So, most of the points come from building towers.
Some points come from sorting.
Some points come from building at home (but only if you sort)
1) Tower Height points (give above)
2) +1 for each block of the correct color in the tower
3) +1 for each correct block in home, -1 for each wrong block at home
