The engineering council produce a quarterly magazine 'engineering first', in
this months magazine (August!) there is an interesting article on the
Falkirk Wheel.
The article within the 'engineering first' magazine discusses many of the
concept ideas that were tabled to try to satisfy the design brief. The
final solution which when you visit the web site you will agree is quite
unique and spectacular was presented by Tony Kettle from RMJM, however such
was the complexity of what was being presented he used his sons Lego to more
clearly demonstrate to the design team and client just how the Wheel would work.
I have not found any images of the Lego model as yet although links to
images of the wheel are below, if you find some or fancy having a go at
designing the wheel please post the pictures and let us know.
