Hi everyone -

If you were at BrickFest, you likely heard me introduce the L PRIZE at Saturday night’s session. I’d like to give you some info on how you can help make this happen. (see [1] for more info on L PRIZE)

Approaching SIGGRAPH, nVidia had already pledged major support to make L PRIZE a reality [2]. At SIGGRAPH we saw a lot of success and have walked away with several very enthusiastic potential sponsors. This week, I’m following up with about ten companies - some of which want to offer some rather significant support.

If you have just a half-hour to an hour a night, or a few hours to spare on a weekend, you can contribute to L PRIZE’s success. If you’re looking for an opportunity to get involved in a cool community project, meet new people, hone your skills, and give something back, please consider becoming a part of the L PRIZE.

Here’s what I need right now (in order of priority):
  • Bay Area Events Coordinator - someone local to coordinate our launch event in Santa Clara, Fall 2004.
  • Copywriter - write web copy, news articles, and press releases.
  • PR/Marketing Coordinator - design, schedule, and execute marketing campaigns to fall in line with the L PRIZE launch and promotional schedule
  • Assistant Coordinator - someone to help me coordinate logistics and scheduling among the volunteer team
  • Evangelism Coordinator - L PRIZE has many individual and corporate supporters in the industry - I need someone to develop tools for these people to most effectively spread the word about L PRIZE
  • LA Area Events Coordinator
By helping out in any one of these above areas, you’ll be contributing tremendously to L PRIZE’s success. You’ll also expand your horizons by seeing some really cool things, meeting some really cool people, and growing the hobby while at the same time gaining personal opportunities you didn’t have before.

Please contact me at director@lprize.com if you are interested. From there, I’ll email you some questions and we’ll set up a phone call to talk more.

Thanks!

-Tim

[1] About the L PRIZE:

The L PRIZE is a $20,000 valued prize to energize the internet programming community to develop powerful, low cost, easy to use 3D computer graphics modeling applications for use by people of all ages (8 to 80).

The L PRIZE competition builds on the work of many volunteer developers who have spent years developing a simple yet versatile LEGO CAD system. Through open competition, the L PRIZE aims to take these great 3D tools, fuse them with industry knowledge and bring them within everyone’s grasp.

The L PRIZE will accomplish its goals by:

Stimulating the development of the next generation of 3D LEGO® modeling tools and applications that are fun, educational, powerful, and easy to use.

Creating a progressive development environment by energizing programmers of all backgrounds to work towards revolutionary advances in available LEGO CAD tools.

Empowering people of all skill levels to be creative, learn, and grow—on their own terms—by providing them the tools to tap their natural creative potential.
