Ouch! That has got to be disheartening. I hope no one got angry or too upset.

I handled some of those cases Saturday.  People were a little
confused, but not angry.  I explained that the reporter misunderstood,
and had done the interview before we ever set up the display so he
didn't see it, and they were mollified.

Having worked with a few news outlets local to me and seeing how they can mangle the most simple facts I think it is a great article. The only negatives would be the reference to “unwashed masses” and a lack of a URL for your website. Both minor points to try to improve for next time and only one can you really do much about. The bulk of the article is positive, lighthearted and has what I hope is accurate information for the museum display. They don’t get much better, well done.

It doesn’t. Last weekend was the first one being open since the article came out, and I heard all weekend we were having to explain to people why stuff mentioned in the article was not actually on display. The public was very confused.

Well, I'm a little disappointed. Much of what is said in the article is not what
I said in the interview. Oh well. Below is the link and the article should be in
print in today's Chronicle in the "96 Hours" section.

BrickCon 2008 Early Registration is now available at
http://www.brickcon.org/register-yourself
at the special Early Registration price (prices go up starting in August).

BrickCon is an annual adult Lego hobbyist convention and exposition in
Seattle.

BrickCon 2008 will be October 3, 4, and 5, with load-in and some events
starting Thursday, October 2.

The venue this year is the Exhibition Hall at Seattle Center
http://www.seattlecenter.com/booking/detail.asp?VE_VenueNum=510
which is in the same general facility as recent years (Seattle Center) but
much larger and has adjoined, dedicated classrooms and other nifty
features.

The schedule of events for BrickCon 2008 has not been finalized but
currently includes reduced public exposition hours (11am--3pm Saturday and
Sunday) and many of our traditional events (a draft, a Dirty Brickster,
speed builds, a blind build, etc., etc.).

Posted on behalf of Dan Jassim:
----------------------------------

Hi all,

I am scheduling LUGOLA meetings from now through 2008 as:

October 13, 2007
November 10, 2007
December 8, 2007

Meetings shall be held MONTHLY every 2nd Saturday from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.,
with the following Saturday being the rain date (unless otherwise noted by the
host). I have committed to hosting the next 3 meetings. If you would like to
host a meeting then please look at the schedule and contact me (cc everyone
else) so I can plug you in. To makes things easier I will be our scheduler. For
the sake of consistency and building a tradition I strongly recommend keeping
our meetings every 2nd Saturday (unless it falls on a holiday weekend). However,
we can be flexible with the meeting time as it suits the host.

In the event nobody commits to a certain date then I will be the default host.
However, to do this I must set deadlines for finalizing the schedule. So for the
Jan-Jun 2008 meetings the deadline to host is December 13th. For Jul-Dec 2008 it
will be no later than June 14th. The sooner people can commit the better, so
that we are not fussing over this stuff later.

I'm hoping everyone with a house, an office space, a garage, or whatever, will
make the effort to host a meeting and the rest of us simply SHOW UP. For many
years my problem was a small apartment and bad location. So I am trying to make
up for that and maybe start us in a new direction.

NOTE: I am unable to post to LUGNET. I've tried numerous times and it does not
work for me anymore and frankly I'm fed up. So anyone who is able to post there
please copy and paste the above info. Thanks.

June 23 and 24 is Star Wars Weekend over at LEGOLand, CA. If you're interested
in displaying your Star Wars-themed MOC's, we'd love to have it. I realize this
is the same weekend as Brickworld, but with any luck there'll be some of you
who'll want to participate at the LEGOLand event. We'll have the big mural that
was at the Star Wars Celebration on display as well as Jared's custom
minifigures, Todd Kubo's mini scale blockade runner, a super large scale
speederbike modeled after the 1999 set model made by Jon Palmer and Dan Parker,
and hopefully some other goodies. Shoot me an email at no_onions@yahoo.com if
you're interested in participating and we can work out the details.
