10 for width yes. Container height and length vary. 40 used to be
standard but there now are 20s, 30s, 40s, 44s and 50s I believe.

I dunno what the standard height is.

However my point is simple, 10 feet is the width of a container, it's
also the width of a standard US semitrailer and it's very close to the
width of a box car or a passenger coach. Therefore, 6 studs wide for
everything, because that's how wide TLG trains are already

(...) I think standard container lengths are 20, 40, 48 and 53. There might also be 28 footers. These are also standard semi trailer lengths. Paul (25 years ago, 2-Sep-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)
