Also, the current No. 1 Senior model is not displaying correctly for me. I can’t see what it is. Anyone else having this problem?

It looks funny for me,too. A few of the models seem to have this problem. I haven’t loaded any of them into LDD to see what they look like, so I don’t know if it’s a problem with the model, the website or what.

Can’t see it too. Tried 2 different browsers. I’m quite surprised how it can get any votes at all. The jpg downloaded from the site is plain wrong, so I doubt anyone can get better (I’ve tried to reload the picture multiple times).

What do you mean by ‘I haven’t loaded them into LDD’? I don’t think you can download the models, at least I haven’t found an option of doing so.

Yes, you’re right. I had just assumed you could download them the same as the “Inspirational Models”.

And the last thing about the competition. I thought the rule was to fit into 16x16 studs, but model #2 in senior section clearly violates that. I think I’d need some clarification.

The official rules say:

As part of the LEGO Factory Element Pallet, the Entrant will be provided with three different (3) 8 knob x 8 knob base plates which have a road pattern on them, and two 8 knob x 8 knob plates in blue (symbolizing water) and green (symbolizing grass) which can be combined in any way for a maximum building area of 16 knobs x 16 knobs.

An answer to that question in the FAQ says:

You can build the model as tall as you wish, just remember you can’t use more than 4 base plates to build it upon.
Paul Boucher, LEGO designer

You could argue that the Container Ship and Dock model only uses four base plates, although it does overhang them a bit. There are some other models (Kini-Nui in the Senior Category) that are built on more than four baseplates.

(...) The rules IMO say: 16x16 studs building area. It doesn't mention at which height, so it must apply for all heights, so no overhang. Simply block 16x16xH, where H is height (without limits). If the size limit wouldn't apply at any other level (...) (20 years ago, 17-Nov-04, to lugnet.general)
