In this case a Lego book (with number) came within a set.  Are there any sets
that came within a set? Not attached on the outside like the creator set with
the 500 extra parts, but actually a set within a set.

The only one that comes to mind is the #725/#810 (USA/Europe) Town Plan set of
1960-66 that has within it a complete #310 Esso Service Station. And parts packs
don't count.

Just curious, I bet there are quite a few.....

I recall receiving for Christmas 1972, a town set which contained #347, #346 and
#344. I don't know if it had a set number. It may have been put together locally
(in Australia), but I do recall the large box was a Lego one (good finish, good
colour photos, logos).

Cheers

Well I was looking at an old wooden box set I found in Germany 20 years ago, it was #712. I don't think I have seen it anywhere else (EBAY or ??) since. But what intrigued me about it was it came with the very collectible #238 -BUILDING IDEA BOOK #1 (...) (20 years ago, 28-Sep-04, to lugnet.general)
