Frank,
I just wanted to say thanks for posting all of these comments about the
pictures from the Pirate game at BrickFest.  I'm sure it took quite a bit of
time to do, and I wanted to let you know that it was appreciated.  :-)

Here's another thanks to Frank for posting all the pictures. There are some
great islands there . . . and I like what I can see here of the bomb ketch
design!

ROFL at Timmy and Jar Jar marooned . . .

Hm, ask and ye shall receive, I guess.  ;)  Since I haven't taken the ketch
apart (yet), I set it up for a few quick pictures while I had the digital
camera set up.  The ketch is a pretty simple design, based on the idea that it
had to be the smallest possible hull to carry both that monster siege mortar
*and* a mast located in a reasonable place (e.g., not on the fantail).  The
other constraint was that the mortar needed to be able to spin around for
loading, which it can when it's in the locked "train" position.

Otherwise, it's a pretty simple ship; the covered area is where shot and the
like are stored, and not much else; the black railing does help the overall
feel of the ship, as does the little miniature-galley stern.  It's not a
comfortable vessel; its handlers realise that if a piece of ordnance lands on
the deck in anger, their lives are very likely a write-off.

Images follow:

I can take more if some design elements aren't discernable.

best

Lindsay

Now that Chris Weeks has put his pictures up, I've added them to my
commentary about the game, to be found here:

Of course all the people who posted their pictures must also be thanked, I just searched them out and added commentary.

I still need to finish processing the web cam pictures, I'll be referencing a bunch of them.

ROFL at Timmy and Jar Jar marooned . . .

This island didn't actually occur in the game, it was a picture posted on the wall in the train/play room, though when I saw it, I
wanted to re-create it for the game...
