BrickFest 2002 is planning on expanding on last year's events and themes by
adding a selection of Technics/Mindstorms™ activities. This will include three
categories of fun and games spread throughout the three day fest - MOC display,
competitions and games.

There will be a room dedicated to Technic and Mindstorms MOCs together with
Model Team type creations if people wish to include them.

There will be a competition held on each day of the event. On Friday, there
will be a Technic challenge event which will not require anything more than
mechanical wizardry to enter.  Saturday's event will include a Mindstorms style
robotics competition while on Sunday, there will be the grand finale of the
Mindstorms Sumo competition derived from daily Sumo heats held on Friday and
Saturday.  The heats will allow combatants the opportunity to flex their
Technic muscles and size up their opponents. PCs will also be made available so
all you have to bring is your 'bot, a bag of spare parts and a healthy
willingness to adjust and adapt in the face of competition.

And for those who have yet to experience the fascination of automating and
programming their Lego creations, there will be some fun and games involving
pre-built examples for you to try your programming skills on.

In addition to all that, we've got some serious stuff coming too! A couple of
well known names from lugnet.technic have agreed to run presentations to share
their secrets and techniques to help us all build with better skill.

As an added enticement, there will be prizes for the events held on Friday,
Saturday and Sunday, so keep your eyes open and your news-readers tuned into
this channel for further details.

The competition rules and regulations which will be published shortly, together
with a list of the prizes for each event.

John Barnes and Claudia Coles are the volunteer organizers for this facet of
BrickFest, so if you have specific questions or suggestions, please send feel
free to email them via mindstorms@brickfest.com
