Due to the tremendous popularity of our Speed and Master Builder Competition
last year, We will again be presenting an opportunity for you to compete to
become the Fastest Builder, or the Most Masterful Builder, in the Northwest!
There will be open competition speed build - each contestant alone. No teamwork,
no committee, no sharing of the glory - or the prizes!
Here is how the Speed Build works: Any Registered Attendee who wants to compete,
brings one unopened copy of the Wild Hunters, Set #4884, 630 pieces ~$30. The
Contest Coordinator (me) will tell everyone which model to build and say "Go!".
All contestants will then open their sealed boxes and begin building. The first
person to complete the model wins! Sound simple? It is.
No-one (except me) will know ahead of time which model will be selected. It
will definitely be one of the models that has full instructions inside the
instruction book. (No freeform building here). There will be judging to
validate that the model is complete and correct before prizes can be awarded.
When it is all over, everyone still owns their set (1).
The only requirement for being a part of this contest is to be registered and
have an unopened copy of the set.
Now for the Master Build Contest.
This contest will be held after the Speed Build Contest because, you guessed it,
we'll be using the same set of pieces (Wild Hunters, Set #4884, 630 pieces) as
the part basis for this contest. To compete, you must be a Registered Atendee
and have access to the set.
This is a competition where the contestant will have to build something based on
the Theme that will be announced at the beginning of the build. (Again, no-one
will know ahead of time the theme). The build time will be 45 minutes. At the
end of that time all builders will stop and the judging will begin. There will
be prizes! When it is all over, everyone still owns their set (2).
These two contests are open to everyone (with the exception of the judging
staff)! The two contests are totally independent - you do not have to compete in
both contests if you only wish to compete in one. If you have a friend who is
faster than you, but you are more creative, then you might think about sharing a
set.
The only requirements for these Competitions are being a Registered Attendee and
having access to one copy of the official set (unopened for the Speed Build).
This is another event that will be a lot of fun to watch if you don't wish to
compete!
