I would expect that if it were the case that the forestmen fig was *intended*
to be brown, that the arms at least would easily be distinguishable from the
red, since the arms are actually made from the same ABS plastic as the other
brown lego bricks. Hence, a simple comparison could tell you... but the collar
is tougher, because the ink they used isn't necessarily the same color as the
arms. If JUST the collar is brown, well, I'd guess that it was just a dark
shade of red... But if the arms AND collar are brown, then it's more likely
that the collar was *meant* to be brown.
One other possibility (E. I guess) is that since this set was bought used (or
opened at least), that the original owner made their own custom fig... hence,
brown arms (perhaps from a wolfpack fig) with a red collared forestmen torso
that was a deeper red than most...

| (...) with (...) I do not recall what kind of arms the forestmen came with but I am sure that it is a real lego made minifig. The brown has the exact same glossyness as the rest of the shirt the pattern of the shirt is exactly like any other (...) (25 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.castle)
