While it doesn't specifically use MLCad, Paul Easter's utilities pages
has some nice screen shots of the part development process. And I'm
sure you could use some of the ideas in MLCad.

This one shows a bunch of windows in polling mode with different
views of the part, similar to the MLCad layout. It also shows the
usefulness of the zerobase.dat axis part. You can certainly use
helper parts in MLCad.

Keep in mind, if you're willing to use external tools, you can set the
part spinning slowly in an ldview window to help you see around any
optical illusions caused by tricks of perspective.
Take a peek at the development of the Darth Vader helmet to see how
temporary false colors can help.

And don't forget you can use transparent colors if you want to see
through something temporarily. For example, make a helmet transparent
to see how it sits on the head part.
There are a few more false coloring example pictures in here.

When you add new stuff in a bright color, you can clearly spot any
mistakes you might have made.
Have Fun,
Don
