Hi SNOTters,
I was playing around with hinges tops and find this :
I dont know if it can be usefull...the building is tight and allow rotation
with friction :
and repetition may lead to castle grilles, grids, gates...
Jouez bien,
Didier

Hi Didier,
I see so much potential in this technique. Seems a great way to do multiple
angle adjustments in a small space. Im sure Ill be using it at some point.
Thanks for posting it.

This is great! I just tried it out.
I think it should be called Dsnot, similar to
Gsnot.

Gsnot is cool! I was not aware of this particular Snot (it should have been
Xpost to schleim before). Dsnot, Gsnot...are you planning an alphabet SNOT
project similar to the SW ships alphabet project ? ;-)

Can I nominate Fsnot for it. Ill give you a hint about that one: the F stands
for the type of brick and Erik Amzallag, James Mathis and myself have explored
it right in this very forum ;)
Tim
PS. Its no great secret that I have a little obsession with Fsnot

Nice Idea - I did a demo using that about 20min ago, when I saw your post:
(Note that this is not supposed to be accurate to any real engine - its just a
demo of the concept)
thanx,

Heres a slightly more complex one
might not quite work as pictured but shoule be adjustble to a working form.

Sorry castleheads. Keep forgetting to remove the .castle from these posts. This
one is in .build.schleim only so replies to it wont fill .castle.
Sorry!

Thanks Tim, that is such a cool idea, I had to build it and tweak it a bit.
Untweaked with Brickshelf link:
Tweaked with MOCpages link:
Finished with Flickr link:
You can see some notes on MOCpages and some of the collaborative process over on
Flickr. Enjoy.

Yep, very neat door. Tim, looks like jumper plates to me.

Ross is correct. I wouldnt have come to that design quite so easily if you
hadnt included the jumper plate at the bottom, Tim. This sort of collaborative
building is what I really like about this community; I cant wait to see where
others take it.

Sometimes I just have to admire my own incredible stupidity... jumper plates on
bottom = jumper plates on top is kind of deducable.
Peace and stupidity, ;)

Heh. I learned to relish those moments right before my palm smacks the middle of
my forehead. They may lead to growth, I dont know. Or, perhaps loopy palms...
Peace and palm smacking, Professor Whateverly
PS. Its always about the schleim, innit?

This could create curves, arches or wheels by introducing angling on the sides.
Using a technic plate at an angle, this is usable for stair steps.

Nice idea, for some reason I have tons of these hinge tops with out bases and
Ive wondered if Id ever have a use for them. This technique gives me hope of
putting them to use, great work!

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Didier...I dont have much to add, but wanted to let you know how cool this
technique is. Im planning on using it for some kind of gate or grill, as you
suggested, in an upcoming dio. Nice work.

cool idea! this could be very usefull in many themes. i look forward to trying
it out on a new building. thanks for the tip and happy building, ondrew
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Mr. Enjary,
Excellent! I cant wait to get home and play with this idea. I have a lot of
these hinge heads lying around. There are quite a few possible applications
going through my mind right now. Thanks for the inspiration! Attack! Mike

this is a real neat technique and thanks for sharing and exploring it Didier and
everyone else! I had an opportunity to apply try out some dsnot, had to make a
couple of service droids, here is the dsnot one:
droid is that small as it fits in the cubby in the bg, so nothing too elaborate.
Im sure that there will be other places this technique finds it way into
creations.
cheers, Joseph
