Thanks, and enjoy...

Well, I just did.

Thanks a lot Brendan for this gallery.
I knew that there are quite some different faces in Minifig-land (and a whole
bunch of cleverly chosen ones I saw first at the Brick Testament) but I
wouldn't have guessed there are so many!
The list will sure help a lot when searching for a matching face for a certain
character. And it's a lot of fun just looking at all those yellow-heads, too.

Is there actually any difference between 012 and 100?

regards,

-Norman

I enjoyed it a lot, but one thing is bothering me.  Do you count heads with
an open stud different from one with the same pattern with a closed stud?
Just curious.  Also, does anyone have any plans to make a database of
different patterned pieces?  It would be a great help for parts authors

It takes a very fine eye to see it, but yes, there is a very slight
difference in the right quadrant of the left eyebrow, you will notice a 15%
declination of the black ink which is present in 012 but lacking in 100.

OK, I'm joking.

You've caught another error.  @8^)

Thanks!  I'll fix it.

I wasn't planning on counting open/closed stud heads as "different faces",
although I could certainly see them as being considered "different heads".

I also see the necessity in differentiating between the two types of studs
on sites like Bricklink, so the buyer knows what to expect.  But for a
catalog of faces, it doesn't seem to be a significant enough factor to
warrant a separate number, at least to me.

As I mentioned, I'm fine with people using these scans for their own
projects, and if someone wants to make their own face catalog or database,
or head catalog or database, they are welcome to distinguish between open
and closed studs and along whatever other lines they choose.

G'day,

I've actually been toying with building a parts database containing
different printed parts, part variations [solid/hollow studs] and eventually
parts version [pat pend on base, part number, lattice/cylinder
plates]...looks like I'd better get on with it :)
