Me again! After being reinspired by Pawel charznecki's artwork, i decided to
build a battletech mech that i have wanted to build for awhile. That mech is
obviously the cougar :)

The design is a refreshing change in pace from my recent humanoid-mecha
creations. It is one of my new breed of chicken-legged mechs that use ball
joints for the hip and ankle (My other design is my shadowcat) The only joints i
had a hard time with were the knee joints, which are basic pin and hole with a
1x2 plate to limit the mech from toppling over(I was hoping to find a smaller
joint that would allow range of movement though)
(If anyone can suggest a joint that has more than 90 degree range of motion, can
support the weight of the upper torso, and that would fit in the leg, please let
me know!)

I also am dissapointed with the feet, which i wanted to do a reverse split-toed
design for, but settled for the "T" version.

I also wanted to do the paint job with black and green (like my shadowcat) but i
was lacking enough green wedges and bricks to do the job, so i settled for black
and white, with some grey.

(...) joint hips on your latest mechs work very well, it gives them a 'realistic' movement area, as well as staying true to the looks of the art. Perhaps you could take a pic of the joint for me to look over? I THINK I know what you mean, but if I (...) (21 years ago, 10-Jun-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)
