My first attempt at a ‘sketch’ of sorts (experimenting with form & function only, not color):

Not sure yet if I’m overdoing the hip and underdoing the leg joints - this is only my second mech. But it’s been fun playing with the idea in between taking care of our baby. More to come!

Peace and Long Life,

Interesting Hip technique. I assume that the friction caused by the three plates and the 1/2 technic bushes would allow for posability especially where the hip would only be moving in the x-plane.

I like it.

Thanks! Not entirely high-tech, but it works for now.

There’s a bit, but not too much. It rotates pretty freely, with only light friction.

I’ve worked on the structure a little more tonight, cleaning up the hip joint and adding a foot. I’m right now in awe of you guys who can whip out a complete, complicated, mechanically sophisticated, artistically beautiful design in such a short time - this is tougher than I thought! Good topic for a challenge.

Overall leg sketch:

Hip joint x-axis rotation:

Tonight’s progress can be seen in pics dsc03406-09 and 11-13.

There are still some big challenges ahead. I’m mostly finished with hip/leg structure, but I need to beautify the form and coloring. THEN, build 3 more just like it... And I haven’t tried tackling the torso yet. Have I mentioned that I’m not sorted at all?

This is still lots of fun!!

Tony Alexander
