Hi Lego Clock builders (or everybody who wants to become one),

Here is again a Lego clock, not a huge grandfather's clock, but a very
compact one (less than 20 cm -- 8" -- high). Fully mechanical pendulum
clock with some nice features.
It has quite some history. Started a long time ago (in 1984! to be
precise) as an aid for my children to learn to tell the clock, it (very)
slowly evolved into a nice piece of Lego build. To enable rebuilding,
first I made pictures of every layer. Later I made drawings (by hand!) of
the full construction. (I even sent it once to Lego in Denmark, but they
sent it back "unopened" stating they had their own team of designers and
did not use any designs from outside!). Then (again a number of years
later) I started to construct a fully 3D model and drawings using
AutoCAD. Took me a lot of time, but I succeeded (at that time, I wasn't
aware of anything like LDraw etc.).
And finally I managed to put everything on the Internet. Have a look:

http://www.zef-damen.myweb.nl/en/Lego_clock_en.htm

There are two versions: a series Lego-like building instructions (without
words!) with fully rendered AutoCAD pictures; and the same in
black-and-white, divided into 21 pages in PostScript format in which all
separate Lego elements are discernable (since the AutoCAD rendering
leaves out all borderlines between elements).

The only non-Lego part is a piece of sewing thread (about 2 m -- 7' -- in
length)...

Enjoy!

Zef Damen

(...) ... (...) two spaces in it (one between the 'Lego' and the 'clock', and one after the 'clock'). I tried a variety of things, like using "%20" for the spaces (works in Netscape), and underscores instead of the spaces, but did not succeed in (...) (24 years ago, 25-Jun-00, to lugnet.build)
