Can someone please help me finding ideas about tree building? I am mainly
trying to build a pinetree forest for a logging camp, but large oaks and
other sorts of European trees are also welcome.

1x1 round bricks make good tree trunks. Use those big multi-node leaf things
for greenery. Center them or stagger them by their edges, depending on the
size you're looking for. There are lots of examples of this technique if you
look through brickshelf.

Here are a couple that I built for the new GMLTC layout:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=35575

The two sizes of "multi-node leaf things" (good term, Amy!) are just stacked
on a piece of Technic flex tubing, and the tubing is stuck into the center
of a brown 2x2 round brick.  An old 'Ages 3+' green flower element helps top
the taller one, along with a few 1x1 green round bricks.

We made about 10 of this type of tree for our 'park' section, I hope to be
posting pictures soon.

(...) much better height than out-of-the-box LEGO trees. What does the terrain of 2x4 white bricks represent in the picture? Dave! (23 years ago, 16-Oct-01, to lugnet.build)
