Think this year is going to be the same ol’ BrickFest? Think that you can put off coming a year? Well, we have some news that might make you reconsider!

The BrickFest organizers have invited a number of representatives from the LEGO Group to attend, and I’m thrilled to announce that many have accepted. The head of the LEGO product design team, Per Hjuler, will be here. We’re also hoping to see Soren Torp Larsen, the head of LEGO Systems, Inc (North America and Australia). And there are a number of marketing and product design folks slated to attend as well.

But certainly that’s not enough to make you reconsider.

What if I told you that the new LEGO CEO, Jorgen Vig Knudstrup was going to be here and is going to give a keynote? Would that make you think twice? OK, OK - you want more.

Would Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen’s attendance change your mind? That’s right! The LEGO Group owner is going to be stopping by to check out BrickFest for the first time, this year.

For those of you on the fence about whether you are going to make it this year, hopefully this news will push you over the edge. Join us in Washington DC from August 12-14, 2005...

But WUSS(1) ummmmm I mean Jimi, shoot, I mean Rob, I am only coming if you have
bells on!

(1) This reference is to last year, when Rob out bid me at the auction, it's not
an insult so much as it is a warning.... This year, I'm packing greenbacks, and
waiting for you to start to bid, wink!!!!  GAME ON!!!!

Awesome! Janey’s planning to outbid Rob without even knowing what’s up for auction yet... LOL. But I can see where she’s coming from. We’re sure to have some great items! ... we just don’t know what they are yet!

If you have an item you’d either like to auction off (for a commission which benefits BrickFest) or better, donate in its entiriety... please contact Kevin Salm, who is coordinating the auction.

HEY!! No fair!!!
Steve I thought you were my friend!!!

(POUTS, with much feet stomping and whining)!

Geesh, no tag teaming me!

Besides, I am already losing money once I have to trade my pretty Canadian bills
into greenbacks.  Come on, if you need to support anyone it's ~ME~.  We all know
Rob is secretly a millionaire from the modding he does.

But LEGO makes the lightup....  Not going there either...

But if it makes Janey "in your face" uncomfortable (and I'm a pro at that)
to be tag-teamed (auction-wise), then yes,  I'll take all the help I can
get!  Besides, I owe a lot of drinks to someone who'll be attending and that
person drinks them by the pint...  :)

Rob "not millionaire"(1) Hendrix

Funny, I owe him a number of pints, too!

Do I need to take out a mortage on my house for this auction????
Larry, do me a fav, don't start the auction until I am in the room, and I am
willing to pay anyone that is willing to distract Rob, hmmmm maybe Leah is
willing to be bribed????

Larry, to whom do the auction proceeds go?

For items that are being sold on behalf of their owners, the sale proceeds go to the seller, except for an auctioneer fee(1), which goes to the BrickFest general fund. We had several (big ticket, in some cases) items like that last year.

For items that have been donated to BF, the entire amount of the sale price goes to the BrickFest general fund. IIRC, we had significantly more of this type of item than commissioned ones last year. Many of the items sold this way were extremely unique(2), one of a kind items that it would be hard to get anywhere else (Japanese items, autographed copies of things, and so forth)

1 - Contact Kevin for details on that, I am just the mouth....
2 - some things are more unique than others!!!! LOL.
