At the moment, threads of more than 100 postings suppress the tree of
blue/maroon squares, which is very helpful for navigating.

Is the format fixed, or could very large threads split themselves, to cut off
large branches (of more than 5 or 10 messages in a >100 message tree) into a
separate page of thread tree, with the original page having a square or other
symbol saying "x messages in this branch" and going to the branch page when you
click on it?  The branch page would have just the branch with one symbol for the
parent tree, which would go back to the parent when you click on it.

Is there another way to view the tree on very large threads?
